Turn Siri and Live Activity on or off

How parents decide what Siri and Live Activity can do in your family — and what shows on each iPhone.

iOS app

In short: open Settings → Siri and Live Activity in the iOS app. A parent can turn each feature on or off for the whole family here, and this is also where you choose whether the routine shows as a Live Activity on that particular device.

Find the settings

  1. Open Settings in the app

Go to Settings in the Morgenrutine app on your iPhone or iPad.

  2. Find “Siri and Live Activity”

The section is just below Apple TV.

  3. Turn on or off

The change applies straight away to the whole family — including the other parent’s and the kids’ devices.

The five features

  • Ask Siri for status — “What is Emma missing?” and “How far along are the kids?”.
  • Mark done with Siri — tick off by voice and with the button on the Lock Screen. Needs “Ask Siri for status”, because Siri finds the activity in the child’s status.
  • The routine as a Live Activity — a countdown on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, updated on the whole family’s devices.
  • Start the routine with Siri — “Start the morning routine” and the Control Center button. Needs “The routine as a Live Activity”.
  • Homework as a Live Activity — when you start homework in the web app, the countdown follows on your own iPhone. See Focus timer and steps.

If you turn a feature off, Siri kindly says it’s turned off for your family and that a parent can turn it back on. A Live Activity that’s already running disappears at the next tick.

Only on this device

Below the five features is “Show Live Activity on this device”. It only applies to the iPhone or iPad you’re holding. Turn it off and that device no longer gets the routine on the Lock Screen when someone in the family starts it — but the rest of the family still does. The same goes for homework started in the web app.

If you can’t change it

  1. The switches are greyed out. Only parents in the family can change them. Kids can see what’s turned on.
  2. There’s no “Siri and Live Activity” section. Update the app to the latest version and open it again.
  3. It says “Couldn’t save. Please try again.” Check your internet connection and try again.
