In short: give the child their own login with an email in the home where the child was created. Then the other home invites the child's email as a Child.
Before you start
- Both homes need Pro.
- The child needs an email that the child or a parent can read.
- Setup is done in the web app. Afterwards the child can log in on the web and in the iOS app.
How it works
Each home is its own family in Morgenrutine with its own owner, and the child is a member of both. One home can't see the other home's routines, appointments, notes or allowance. The child's school schedule and homework belong to the child and are the same in both homes.
Step by step
- Give the child their own login
In the home where the child profile was created, a parent opens the child's page under Settings → Family and finds Own login.
- Verify the email
Enter the child's email and click Send code. Type in the code from the email. You stay logged in as yourself.
- The other home invites the child
A parent in the other home chooses Child under “Invite by email” and enters the child's email.
- Accept the invitation
The child — or a parent who can read the child's email — logs in with the child's email and chooses Accept.
What's shared and what's separate
- Shared by both homes: school schedule, homework and the child's profile.
- Separate in each home: routines, appointments, chores, allowance, notes, addresses and driving.
- Name and colour can be set differently in each home.
Allowance is separate: each home has its own balance and its own chores for the child.
Day to day
When the child logs in, they choose the home under Active family — at the top of the menu in the web app, under Settings in the iOS app. Anything created is always added to the home that's selected.
A school schedule changed in one home is changed in both. So agree on who keeps the schedule up to date.
Good advice
- Use an email the child can use themselves as they get older. It can't later be changed to an email that already has an account.
- Agree on who creates the school schedule. It's shared, so one change shows up in both homes.
- Give the homes clear names. For example “At mum's” and “At dad's”, so the child can always see where they are.
If it doesn't work
- Can't see Own login? Only the owner and parents can see it, and only on a child's page.
- Does it say the email is used by another account? An email can only belong to one account — use another one.
- Has the code expired? It's valid for 5 minutes. Click Send new code.
- Can't the other home invite? Check that the email is verified, that the other home has Pro, and that they chose Child.
