In short: in Settings → Two homes you choose the child, give the two homes a name and choose how the child moves between them. Morgenrutine works out the days and shows where the child is throughout the app.
Before you start
- It's free and doesn't need the Family plan.
- You must be a parent in the family, and the child must be a member of it.
- The other home doesn't need to use Morgenrutine. It simply gets a name, e.g. “At Dad's”. If both homes use Morgenrutine, see A child with two homes.
- The child can be a child profile, a child with their own login or have their own account.
Create a home schedule
- Open Two homes
Go to Settings → Two homes. On iPhone and Android, Two homes is also in the menu at the top.
- Choose the child
Tap the child under Schedule for, then tap Create home schedule.
- Name the two homes
E.g. “At Mum's” and “At Dad's”. Home 1 is your family. Home 2 is Name only or another family in Morgenrutine.
- Choose a pattern
Choose a template such as 7/7 · week on, week off, the start date and your usual handover time.
- Tap Save schedule
Until you save, you can undo all changes.

Patterns and handover times
Choose the template that suits you best. They repeat every two weeks from the start date:
- 7/7 · week on, week off: one week in each home.
- 9/5 and 10/4: most days in one home.
- 2-2-3 and 2-2-5-5: short periods, so the child sees both homes often.
- Custom pattern: 1–4 weeks where you choose each day yourself.
Click a day in the grid to switch home. The colour is the home the child is in at the end of the day. Under Handovers each handover day is listed, and you can give it its own time – e.g. Friday at 3 pm after school and Monday at 8 am at school drop-off.

Holidays and swapped days
A holiday or a swapped day is an exception. It overrides the pattern, so the rest of the schedule doesn't need to change. Click Add exception, give it a name like “Autumn half-term”, choose where the child is, and choose from and to with times. Exceptions are saved straight away.

The calendar
The calendar shows one month at a time in the colours of the homes. A handover day is split at the handover time, and a dot means an exception applies that day. The calendar also shows changes you haven't saved yet, so you can see the result before saving.

How it shows in everyday life
- Doing: the child sees “Today: At Dad's” or “At 15:00: At Dad's → At Mum's”.
- Planning: the child's column shows the home, and the time in the other home is shaded.
- Appointments and Driving: appointments and trips show where the child is. They turn orange if they fall while the child is at the other home.
- Weekly plan and Meal plan: the weekly plan shows the home for each day, and the meal plan shows who isn't eating with you.
- Dashboard: the Two homes widget shows the next 14 days.
The child's routines from both homes are still created. A routine from the other home gets an orange label, so it's clear which ones apply today.
When the schedule changes
Changes apply straight away. The parents in the other home get an email – and on iPhone also a notification – once you've been done for 10 minutes, so several changes are collected in one message. The child gets a notification. All changes are listed under History.
Two families and siblings
- Both homes use Morgenrutine: when the child is a member of both families, parents in both homes can edit the schedule. It's the same in both families.
- The other home starts using Morgenrutine: once the child has joined the new family, its parents see the button Link to … in Two homes and can link the home to their family.
- Siblings: each child has their own schedule. Click Copy from … to start from a sibling's schedule.
- The child can see their schedule but can't change it.
If it doesn't work
- You can't create a schedule: the child must be a member of a family where you are a parent. The family's owner can't have a schedule in their own family.
- A home is locked: it's linked to a family you're not part of. Only a parent in that family can change it.
- Save schedule is greyed out: give both homes a name, and make sure the child is in both homes during the pattern.
