In short: A fixed homework slot turns homework into a habit instead of a daily negotiation. Morgenrutine puts the day's steps into the slot and moves it if sport, a ride or an appointment gets in the way.
How the homework plan works
Each person can have their own homework slot, e.g. Monday to Thursday at 4 pm for 45 minutes. On those days Morgenrutine adds a routine called Homework to the person's day – with the day's steps as activities. It shows in Doing, the Weekly plan, Planning, the iPhone app and on Apple TV.
Steps are spread by due date. What's due first comes first, and the plan aims to have everything done the day before it's due. How much goes on one day depends on the length of the slot – a big assignment is therefore split over several days.
Set up the homework slot
- Go to Settings → Homework
Parents choose the person at the top. A child sees their own settings.
- Turn on the days
Under Homework slot, turn on the weekdays with homework.
- Choose start time and length
E.g. 16:00 and 45 min. The days can have different times – shorter on Fridays, for example.
- Different weeks?
Turn on Different times in even and odd weeks, e.g. for shared custody or alternating practice. Then you set days and times for Even weeks and Odd weeks separately. Turn it off again and the even-week times apply to every week.
- Do you have a Homework routine yourself?
Then your own settings offer to use its days and times. Afterwards, turn off the old routine so homework doesn't show twice.

Today's homework
At the top of Homework is Today with the slot, today's steps and a ring showing how many are done. Tap Start homework to get going with the focus timer, or tick the steps off one at a time.

Under The next few days you'll see the slot and the number of steps for each of the next seven days – and a flag on the day something is due. Days without a slot show Free.

When something gets in the way
Morgenrutine looks at the person's routines, appointments, rides and the meal plan. If, say, football practice lands in the slot, it moves to the next free time that day and shows Moved because of Football. Morgenrutine looks later first and then earlier in the day, between 13:00 and 20:30.
- No free time: No homework time today is shown, and the steps go on other days.
- A step wasn't done: it moves to the next day with a homework slot.
- Too little time before it's due: the step is marked Can't be done on time, so you can see it in good time.
Homework in Doing, the Weekly plan and Planning
In Doing, the Homework routine has the label From the homework plan and today's steps as activities. Tick off a step there, and it's ticked off under Homework too. Start homework opens the focus timer, and Open Homework goes to the homework page.

The routine is managed by the homework plan, so it can't be edited under Routines or Planning. Change times and steps under Homework and Settings → Homework instead.
If the plan looks wrong
- No steps today? Check that the day is turned on under Homework slot, and that there is homework due after today.
- Is the slot wrong every other week? If Different times in even and odd weeks is on, check the day under both Even weeks and Odd weeks. Week numbers follow the calendar – the current week is marked This week.
- Has the slot already passed? When the slot is over, today's remaining steps move to the next day.
- Does the slot move unexpectedly? See what follows Moved because of, and check that routine or appointment in Planning.
